MICHEL GOUPY
Principal | Sydney
Company founder, Michel commenced his lighting design career in 2000. Working with key, international lighting consultants he honed his skills whilst managing a diverse range of projects from large scale city master planning to intimate hospitality venues.
In 2013 Michel established LightStudioMG, with the company receiving multiple awards in the past decade. His relationships with all aspects of the design team and stakeholders have grown significantly due to close collaboration and a clear understanding of project expectations. Having a background in industrial design and a passion for lighting means that Michel excels in both conceptual visualisation as well as practical implementation throughout the project.
Michel’s ethos is to maintain client satisfaction whilst creating an elevated, enjoyable experience. This principle is achieved by being flexible in the design approach, adaptive to the project needs and being collaborative throughout the process.
The scale and spirit of the firm means that Michel manages a focused team of talent whilst able to maintain direct input in the design, direction, and delivery of all projects.
FRANSISKA LAKSMONO
Creative Designer | Sydney
Siska grew up in Indonesia and discovered her passion in lighting during her Architecture study. The fact that the simplest change in lighting can greatly alter the mood and people’s experience of the space intrigued Siska and sparked her decision to pursue further study in Lighting.
Ever since the start of her lighting career in London in 2004, Siska enjoys learning and collaborating with the team on various projects, ranging from small private house to large scale hotel and resorts. Enticed by the blue sky and vast vistas of the Southern Hemisphere, Siska relocated to Sydney in 2010 and continued her creative work on diverse range of projects.
Siska’s strength lies in her sensitive understanding of space, close attention to detail and collaborative spirit. She is particularly experienced in highly crafted hospitality projects and takes pleasure in seamlessly ‘stitching’ lighting into architectural fabric to create interplay of light and shades.
Joining LightStudioMG (LSMG) in 2023, Siska is delighted to be part of the team and looks forward to a more creative journey ahead.
NICOLÒ BRAMBILLA
Studio Leader | Melbourne
Born and raised near Milan, Nicolò Brambilla studied Industrial Design and completed a Master’s in Lighting Design at Politecnico di Milano. He began his career while still a student, gaining hands-on experience across hospitality, retail, residential, sports, and exhibition projects, collaborating with leading studios including Gregotti Associati, Mario Bellini, and Aldo Cibic.
After graduating, Nicolò joined Philips Lighting in Eindhoven, developing expertise in perception research, product development, teaching, and international retail lighting. In 2008, he moved to Hong Kong to join Tino Kwan, delivering major projects across Asia alongside internationally recognised architecture practices.
Since relocating to Melbourne in 2011, Nicolò has led lighting design for luxury hospitality, cultural, educational, and performance projects across Australia and internationally. In 2017, he joined Schuler Shook to lead its Melbourne lighting operations.
In 2026, Nicolò joined LightStudioMG to establish and lead its Melbourne studio, combining global experience, technical expertise, and a deep interest in light’s impact on people and wellbeing.
JOSIE WHITE
Senior Designer | Melbourne
Josie graduated from the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow in 2010 and began her career in architectural practices across the UK, Canada, and Australia. Her growing fascination with light led her to specialise in lighting design at RMIT University in Melbourne, where she received the 2017 IES Lighting Award for Most Outstanding Student.
Josie subsequently joined The Flaming Beacon, contributing to architectural lighting projects across Australia and China spanning hospitality, arts and culture, education, and residential sectors. In 2019, she joined Schuler Shook, taking on greater responsibility for complex architectural, civic, and commercial projects from concept through to construction and commissioning.
Alongside practice, Josie has taught lighting design to Master of Architecture students at the University of Melbourne. Inspired by natural light, she explores the interplay of light and shadow to shape atmosphere, reveal architectural form, and enrich spatial experience.
Josie joined LightStudioMG in 2026 to contribute thoughtful design, technical expertise, and collaborative project delivery.
KASTURI KAMBEKAR
Junior Designer | Melbourne
Kasturi began her journey into lighting design while studying Architecture in India, developing a strong interest in how light connects architecture, people, and the built environment. After graduating, she worked as an Architectural Lighting Designer, gaining four years’ experience across commercial workplace, hospitality, retail, and corporate projects. She contributed to projects for organisations including Google, Amazon, 7-Eleven, Cognizant, and Apollo Hospitals, developing expertise in lighting concepts, calculations, documentation, luminaire selection, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Kasturi relocated to Australia to complete a Master of Architectural Science (Illumination Design) at the University of Sydney, expanding her knowledge of daylighting, sustainable lighting, visual perception, photometry, and lighting simulation.
She joined LightStudioMG as a Junior Lighting Designer, contributing to hospitality, workplace, retail, and public realm projects. Combining international experience with academic knowledge, Kasturi brings technical rigour and creative curiosity to her work, with a focus on lighting solutions that are functional, sustainable, and enhance the human experience of architecture.
